Helen, this is very interesting. A few things I'd like to have you try. Would you please flip the image you captured so it's facing the same direction as the original painting? I'm wondering if you open your image in Lightroom if you can soften the background a bit to try and make the model more the focus. If this doesn't add to your image then just flip it.
