TED Reflection

In the TED talk given by David Griffen, he talks about how emotion can be utilized when people take photographs. He describes the experience which happened between him and his son. He said that with the emotion in the photographs can make a special connection with the audience. Also, he shows how the social issue can be reflected in the photographic works, and raise the social awareness of the issue in the society. I like the picture of the fishing by human beings, and I like how the photographer is taking pictures in the position and the sight of the fishes. In the slum, the photos really reflect the people's life in there and some human nature is showed in the photos.
I agree with David Griffen because when a photography is added with personal emotion, then it is a unique and fabulous photography and it cannot be copied because the emotion is different to anyone else. I admire the photographer's spirit because he is not just photographing the surface of the slum, he really digs into the vital part of the city and how the city work. He really captured the spirit of human who live there. In the fisheries picture, it gives me the feeling of fishes, and I can feel their sadness and emotion of being killed for human being's benefits. I believe that a good picture is not all about having good composition or light; it is about the spirit and soul in the picture.
I think this video is really worth watching because sometimes people just want to take many fancy photographies without noticing that there is not spirit in the picture. If a picture is about a tree, then people are just looking at one tree picture. They are just viewing the surface of it, instead of viewing the emotion and meaning behind the picture. For example, when people see the picture of the slum, they first would see the life of living there. Second, they will notice the poor condition and then reflect on the reason of leading this kind of poverty. They have more thinking process when they view the photography.
